01 / driver eligibility
The right licence. For the actual car.
Self-drive drivers must be at least 25 years old. Eligibility also depends on your licence, the actual vehicle and the insurer’s conditions. Please provide licence type, issuing country/state, age and driving history for review. A translated licence or international driving permit may be needed depending on your documents.
South Australia has a U-class licence requirement for ultra-high-powered vehicles at or above 276 kW per tonne, subject to the official vehicle definition and exemptions. South Australian licence holders must check the requirement; interstate and overseas visitors have specific rules. The team must verify the exact car, not just its badge.
Read the official SA guidance↗The self-drive minimum age is 25. Driving experience and accepted licence jurisdictions must also be checked for the chosen vehicle before a booking deposit is accepted.
02 / bond & damage excess
Different amounts. Different purposes.
The self-drive security bond is A$5,000–A$10,000 depending on the vehicle, with the exact amount confirmed in writing. It secures obligations under the agreement. The damage excess is a separate contractual amount and may be higher. Ask for both, release timing, claim procedures, exclusions and any optional reduction in writing. The applicable policy and liability are confirmed for your chosen vehicle.
03 / use & mileage
Agree where the journey takes you.
Every 4-hour, 8-hour or 24-hour self-drive hire includes 150 km. Only distance above 150 km is charged, at A$8.80/km including GST for every car. Confirm multi-day allowances, authorised drivers, approved roads and travel area, fuel, delivery and return time. Motorsport, track driving, off-road use and interstate travel are not included offers here. Obtain express written approval for any non-standard use.
04 / chauffeured hire
The right service approval matters.
Commercial passenger services in South Australia require the appropriate driver, operator and vehicle arrangements. Accreditation categories differ: an occasion-based special-purpose vehicle should not be assumed to be eligible for ordinary point-to-point or airport transfers. The actual booking must be checked before it is confirmed.

Understand the agreement before paying.
Confirm the booking deposit, payment schedule, cancellation amounts, weather/event changes, late return and vehicle substitution terms. Any cancellation policy remains subject to applicable Australian Consumer Law; a blanket ‘no refunds’ statement is not a substitute for those rights.
